Sunlight plays an important role in various bodily functions, often related to the production of vitamin D. A daily low dose of ten minutes of sunlight is enough for a healthy vitamin D level.Unfortunately, most people are not able to get even that much during the autumn and winter months. That is why 70% of West Europeans have a vitamin D deficiency in autumn. Research shows that daily use of Sunshower products with a low UV dose during the winter months doubles the vitamin D level.*
Vitamin D is the only vitamin that the human body can produce itself. When the skin is exposed to UV or sunlight, it produces the pre-vitamin D3, which the liver and kidneys then convert into vitamin D. This process is boosted by UV-B radiation. Scientific research shows that the list of physical processes affected by vitamin D is getting longer every year.

Scientific evidence
Scientific research has shown that vitamin D affects physical processes (positively). For example, vitamin D is responsible for:
- stimulation of the immune system
- absorption of calcium
- development and maintenance of muscle functions
- suppression of infections
- development and maintenance of cognitive functions
